{"id":80,"date":"2025-03-23T14:17:09","date_gmt":"2025-03-23T14:17:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/citelearn7.savecicadabuzz.org\/?page_id=80"},"modified":"2025-04-08T17:21:24","modified_gmt":"2025-04-08T17:21:24","slug":"document-classification","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/citelearn7.savecicadabuzz.org\/index.php\/document-classification\/","title":{"rendered":"Document Classification"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-page\" data-elementor-id=\"80\" class=\"elementor elementor-80\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-10efc11 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"10efc11\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b02fcca elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"b02fcca\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Document Classification:<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-70bdaba elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"70bdaba\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"64\" data-end=\"115\"><strong data-start=\"68\" data-end=\"113\">Reflection on Our Cat-Only Pet Door Model<\/strong><\/h3><h4 class=\"\" data-start=\"117\" data-end=\"195\"><strong data-start=\"122\" data-end=\"193\">What kind of data did you include in your training dataset and why?<\/strong><\/h4><p class=\"\" data-start=\"196\" data-end=\"256\">For our training dataset, we used three different classes:<\/p><ol data-start=\"257\" data-end=\"556\"><li class=\"\" data-start=\"257\" data-end=\"345\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"260\" data-end=\"345\"><strong data-start=\"260\" data-end=\"285\">Orange and White Cats<\/strong> \u2013 To help the model recognize a common cat color pattern.<\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"346\" data-end=\"457\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"349\" data-end=\"457\"><strong data-start=\"349\" data-end=\"372\">Black and Grey Cats<\/strong> \u2013 To include darker-colored cats and avoid bias toward only light-colored felines.<\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"458\" data-end=\"556\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"461\" data-end=\"556\"><strong data-start=\"461\" data-end=\"479\">Groups of Cats<\/strong> \u2013 To test if the model can still recognize multiple cats entering at once.<\/p><\/li><\/ol><p class=\"\" data-start=\"558\" data-end=\"720\">We chose these categories to ensure the model could identify different types of cats, making it more inclusive and effective for cat owners with various breeds.<\/p><h4 class=\"\" data-start=\"722\" data-end=\"835\"><strong data-start=\"727\" data-end=\"833\">What other kind of data could have been helpful but maybe you couldn\u2019t get in the short-term\/for free?<\/strong><\/h4><p class=\"\" data-start=\"836\" data-end=\"883\">Some useful but harder-to-find data included:<\/p><ul data-start=\"884\" data-end=\"1294\"><li class=\"\" data-start=\"884\" data-end=\"994\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"886\" data-end=\"994\"><strong data-start=\"886\" data-end=\"910\">Cats of other colors<\/strong> (e.g., brown, Siamese, hairless cats) that didn\u2019t fit neatly into our categories.<\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"995\" data-end=\"1078\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"997\" data-end=\"1078\"><strong data-start=\"997\" data-end=\"1017\">Nighttime images<\/strong> or low-light scenarios to improve recognition in the dark.<\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"1079\" data-end=\"1198\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1081\" data-end=\"1198\"><strong data-start=\"1081\" data-end=\"1119\">Obscured or partially visible cats<\/strong> (e.g., hiding behind objects) to test if the model can still recognize them.<\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"1199\" data-end=\"1294\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1201\" data-end=\"1294\"><strong data-start=\"1201\" data-end=\"1243\">Non-cat animals (dogs, raccoons, etc.)<\/strong> to improve accuracy in blocking unwanted guests.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1296\" data-end=\"1470\">Finding large, diverse datasets for free was challenging, but we could expand our dataset in the future by scraping images from free databases or using YouTube video clips.<\/p><h4 class=\"\" data-start=\"1472\" data-end=\"1528\"><strong data-start=\"1477\" data-end=\"1526\">Did your model work well for what you wanted?<\/strong><\/h4><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1529\" data-end=\"1688\">Our model successfully recognized different types of cats based on color, meaning it worked well for many cat owners.
